Video: Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan Chats To Q104.3’s Jonathan Clarke
Dave sat down with Q104.3’s Jonathan Clarke on “Out of the Box” to talk about his roguish youth, his band’s deep connection to David Bowie, their new album, Spirit, and more.
Of Bowie, Gahan tells “Out of the Box” the band has always been huge fans. In fact, Gahan says he was given the job singing in Depeche Mode after the band heard him cover Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ during a jam session. Here we are almost 40 years later.
Had Vince Clarke not called Gahan to ask him to come to rehearsal, he may have stayed on a very different path. As a teen, Gahan used to steal cars. He says he very well could have ended up in jail for a long time were it not for music and for Depeche Mode.
