Depeche Mode Grammy Award Shut Out Once Again

…and the Grammy goes to… not to Depeche Mode once again… oh well.

Phoenix’s ‘Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix’, won the Grammy for ‘Best Alternative Music Album’ during the pre-telecast portion of the awards in Los Angeles. Phoenix was nominated alongside David Byrne and Brian Eno’s ‘Everything That Happens Will Happen Today’, the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s ‘It’s Blitz!’ Death Cab for Cutie’s ‘The Open Door’ and Depeche Mode’s ‘Sounds Of The Universe’.

Also, Depeche Mode’s Grammy award nomination in the ‘Best Short Form Music Video’ category for ‘Wrong’ falls short to Black Eyed Peas for ‘Boom Boom Pow’.

Three times in the past Depeche Mode received Grammy nominations and won none. The first Grammy award nomination came in 1995 for ‘Devotional’ in the ‘Best Long Form Music Video’ category. The second nomination came in 2002 for ‘I Feel Loved’ in the ‘Best Dance Recording’ category. In December 2006, Depeche Mode were nominated a third time for a Grammy award in the ‘Best Dance Recording’ category once again, for ‘Suffer Well’.

  • A sad fan

I think it’s horrible. I look at the music that’s apparently “popular” nowadays and it saddens me because it seems like there’s no place for older bands on the radio or on tv and especially at the awards. What about these talented bands who know their ass from a hole in the ground? I hate the lack of appreciation. They deserved those awards and I am annoyed that they didn’t get them. It actually comfirms my lack of faith in humanity.
